What role do trusted flaggers play under the DSA?
Questions & Answer
Trusted flaggers are organisations or individuals designated by EU authorities as reliable reporters of illegal content.
Platforms must prioritise notices from trusted flaggers and act on them more quickly than general user reports.
Trusted flaggers are usually NGOs, regulators, or specialised entities with expertise in areas like child protection, counter-terrorism, or consumer fraud. Their role is to improve the accuracy and speed of moderation while reducing false positives.
Platforms must still review each notice but are expected to treat trusted flagger reports with high urgency. Abuse of the role can lead to withdrawal of the designation.
