With short talks from Sasha Haco (Unitary) and Dr. Hannah Shimko (Online Dating Association), this will be an informal chance to meet people working on building a safer and fairer internet.

A little bit about the speakers:

Dr Hannah Shimko is Chief Executive of the Online Dating Association, the industry body representing the online dating sector, setting standards, campaigning on behalf of the industry and working to create a dating ecosystem that benefits businesses and consumers. She is an expert in communications, with a specialisation in public relations and public affairs. She enjoys helping the public engage in digital and tech opportunities and challenges, and in particular helping policymakers and the media understand the world of online dating. Most recently, she has been working on issues related to trust & safety, fraud, consumer protections and competition in digital markets. She holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham.

Sasha Haco is the CEO and co-founder of Unitary, which aims to make the internet safer by automatically detecting harmful online content. Before co-founding Unitary, Sasha was using physics to solve the mysteries of the universe. During her PhD at Cambridge she worked with Stephen Hawking on the black hole information paradox, and spent a year as a visiting fellow at Harvard. Her research, which aimed to derive the entropy of black holes, was documented in the Netflix film The Edge of All We Know. Driven by understanding––and solving––complex problems, Sasha joined Entrepreneur First in 2019 where she met co-founder James Thewlis and founded Unitary in June of that year
